Susty Summit 3 - Manu-FACT-uring
Out of sight, out of mind?
In our third BYBI Susty Summit we’ll be shining a light on one of a hidden and often overlooked areas in beauty; manufacturing. It’s easy to get distracted by the physical elements of a product - the recyclability of packaging material or the renewability of an ingredient - and forget the environmental impact of how the product has actually been produced. Manufacturing within beauty is very cloak and dagger; rarely do brands share information on where or who has produced their products and sometimes this is because they don’t actually know themselves. There is a general lack of transparency around manufacturing practices, which is crazy given the amount of energy required and people involved. On October 30th, we will change that by making manufacturing visible - giving you the (manu)facts.
You’ll leave this Susty Summit with the knowledge and tools you need to make the most responsible purchases when it comes to sustainable manufacturing, and with a true picture of what beauty manufacturing really looks like now, and how it’s likely to look in the future. You’ll gain a solid understanding of how we work with third parties to ensure our practices are as ethical and sustainable as possible, along with the challenges we (and other beauty companies face), and what we’re doing to overcome them.
This space is changing dramatically for companies like ours, and so we don’t promise to know all of the answers (sorry!), but we’re opening up the BYBI doors to tell you everything we know on the subject of manufacturing and what we’re doing as a brand. We’ll naturally do this all over a glass of something tasty and some sustainable snacks
When: Wednesday 30th October 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Where: BYBI HQ, Farringdon London
£10 ticket redeemable on purchases at the event. Drinks and nibbles provided, naturally.
What is The BYBI Susty Summit?
The BYBI Susty Summit is a regular event series dedicated to sustainability in beauty, personal care and beyond. Sustainability is a hugely positive yet hugely broad term that right now lacks clear definitions and guidelines. As consumers, our purchases are increasingly being driven by a want for better environmental impact, but a lack of clear information can leave us feeling confused, overwhelmed and not really knowing where to start.
The BYBI Susty Summits will tackle a sustainable subject at a time, with the aim to provide you with an open, transparent and honest picture and arm you with as much information as possible to help you make your purchasing decisions.
We’ll open up about what we’re doing at BYBI, give you the chance to ask us questions and most importantly, speak to a room full of people who are truly passionate about making change for the better.
BYBI products will also be available to test, try and buy with exclusive discounts. Tickets are first come first serve. There's a lot to discuss, so if you don’t manage to get one there are more Susty Summits to come.
